Join Nick Mollé and the Rocky Mountain Channel for the Environmental Film Festival with the Rocky Mountain Channel for an engaging weekend focused on environmental filmmaking on April 11 and 12, 2025, at the Historic Park Theatre.

The festivities kick off on Thursday night, April 10, with a special launch party at Avant Garde Aleworks, featuring live music from Nick Mollé and Friends, including performances of selections from Nick’s films. On Friday, embark on a nostalgic journey as you explore Nick Mollé’s early works, culminating in a special screening of the film that launched his career, "Climb Longs Peak." Then, on Saturday, immerse yourself in another day of inspiring environmental films, leading up to a thrilling celebration for the premiere of Nick’s latest PBS documentary, Water: The Sacred Gift. Enjoy a delightful dinner generously provided by Lonigans Irish Pub & Grill, accompanied by live music and an exclusive screening of the new film, followed by a thought-provoking panel discussion on conservation.

The fourth annual Student Environmental Film Festival is on April 5, 2025 and is dedicated to amplifying youth voices in our community by allowing students to create and showcase their short films.

Hosted by Estes Park High School and the Estes Valley Land Trust and generously supported by festival sponsor Bird & Jim, this free event will feature screenings for both a public audience and a panel of local judges. Each film will be around five minutes long, and after the screenings, judges will join the filmmakers on stage for an engaging Q&A session. Films will be evaluated based on quality and content, and the top three filmmakers will receive academic scholarships, including a grand prize of $4,000. Participation in the Q&A will also be considered during the judging process, making this a competition and a platform for meaningful dialogue about environmental issues.

On April 3, 2025, join the Estes Valley Watershed Coalition for "Trees are the Answer: Forest Adapt for an Uncertain Climate Future."

This event will feature the Adaptive Silviculture for Climate Change (ASCC) project, a collaborative initiative involving forest managers and scientists across the U.S. and Canada. The project aims to answer a vital question: What measures can enhance a forest's ability to adapt to change while achieving management objectives? Courtney Peterson, a Climate Adaptation Specialist at the Northern Institute of Applied Climate Science (NIACS) and the USDA Southwest Climate Hub, is leading this initiative. Based in the Forest and Rangeland Stewardship Department at Colorado State University, Courtney serves as the ASCC Program Manager. Her work focuses on sharing project findings and creating outreach and training opportunities for land managers and scientists dedicated to effective forest management and climate change adaptation. Learn more about Courtney Peterson's important work and how it contributes to the future of forest resilience.

The Estes Valley Watershed Coalition is thrilled to announce our Spring 2025 Symposium on May 10 titled From Myth to Reality: Wolves in Modern Ecosystems.
