Lodging Tax Extension:
An Opportunity

The availability and affordability of workforce housing and childcare has been an issue in the Estes Valley for decades. Until now, a consistent, meaningful funding mechanism to finance work on these issues has not been available. Fortunately, the passage of HB22-1117, which allows the expanded use of lodging taxes for investments in workforce housing and childcare, is the funding mechanism that has the potential to make significant, positive impacts on these two issues.

Larimer County, The Town of Estes Park and Visit Estes Park are working together to introduce a ballot measure on the November 2022 ballot that would increase the lodging tax for this purpose.
