The Skijor Competitions
During Skijor Weekend from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday, you can expect thrilling races where skiers are towed by a horse and rider team through a challenging course. With cash rewards and prizes at stake, competitors give their all, ensuring a high-energy atmosphere that’s hard to match.
Compete in the Novice Category
Did that spark your interest? There’s still time to sign up for the Novice Category. Dress in your craziest costume, find the other half of your team (and a horse) and have an adrenaline filled day you will never forget. I mean, why not?
The Mountain Shop’s Warming Hut Expo
Feel like you’re strolling Elkhorn Avenue when you step into the Warming Hut to shop for local goods and gear. The best part? You won’t have to miss a second of the competitions because they’ll be streaming on TVs in the Expo!
The Education Foundation’s Fun Zone
Families will find plenty of joy at the Fun Zone, a dedicated space for kid-friendly activities. Step into the Fun Zone for a putt putt course, a mini “skijor course” and much more to keep your kids (and you) entertained! It's a fantastic way for kids to enjoy the festivities and maybe even spark an interest in skijoring for future competitions.
Head to a Skijor After Party
And after a full day of adrenaline-pumping activities and explorations, the fun doesn't stop! Estes Park hosts numerous after-parties where you can mix and mingle with fellow enthusiasts, competitors, and locals.
The Estes Park Skijor After Party at Twisted Griffin
On January 25th, head to Twisted Griffin Irish Pub & Restaurant for great food, drinks and music by the impressive four-piece band, Fancy Bits from 5-7pm.
Whitey Morgan & The 78’s at the Stanley Concert Hall
Join the Stanley Hotel on Saturday, January 25th for the soulful, blue-collar sound of Whitey Morgan & The 78’s from 8-11pm. Set in their iconic concert hall, this is a show you won’t want to miss.
Rocky Mountain Auld Lang Syne at the Hogback Distillery
Check out the Rocky Mountain Auld Lang Syne special series of Irish culinary experiences and live entertainment by Robert Burns, Scotland’s National Poet. Burns is known for his blunt and satirical poetry, lyrical songs, and storytelling. Events take place throughout the day Jan. 24-26.

All in the name of making Skijor weekend the most fun and the most affordable.
