Explore on snowshoes

When the snow is fluffy and deep, it’s time to grab your snowshoes. Bring your own gear or rent from the Estes Park Mountain Shop before hitting the trails. Here are our favorite winter hikes.

Explore on skis

RMNP is home to some of Colorado's best backcountry skiing. It's a surefire bet for the experts to the folks looking to get comfortable in the backcountry. Not sure where to start? Guiding services in town like Colorado Mountain School and Kent Mountain Adventure Center offer courses ranging from avalanche safety to splitboarding 101 to help you out. Or you can read on it a bit more before you jump right in.

Explore on a sled

Hidden Valley is the only designated spot in RMNP for sledding. It's the perfect way for the young and the young of heart to spend an afternoon. Bring your own sled or tube, or rent one from a local gear shop.
