First-timers, families, vacationers, and lifelong climbers — Colorado Mountain School welcomes everyone. Since 1981, we've helped people of every ability discover the rock, ice, and mountains around Estes Park, from half-day adventures to international expeditions.

We're one of the longest-running guide services in the country and an accredited member of the American Mountain Guides Association (AMGA). Our certified guides live in these mountains and teach climbing as a profession, not a side gig. When you book with CMS, you get a guide who's here because this is what they do.

Most first-time climbers arrive nervous. That's normal. Real climbing on real rock — even for half a day — is bigger than anything you can do in a gym. Our guides specialize in patient, step-by-step instruction. No rushing, no judgment. By the time you're back on the ground, you'll have done something you didn't think you could do.

Our offerings for Estes Park visitors include half-day and full-day rock climbing experiences (no experience or gear required), multi-day climbing and mountaineering courses, custom private guiding, ice climbing and backcountry programs in winter, and international expeditions for those ready to chase something bigger.

Our office sits on Moraine Avenue at the gateway to Rocky Mountain National Park, surrounded by some of the best granite climbing in the country. We'd love to help you find an adventure that fits your time, your comfort level, and your goals.

We look forward to climbing with you.
