Though some traditional 4th of July events are canceled for 2020, there are plenty of outdoor adventures to enjoy the mountains during this holiday weekend. The Estes Park Events Complex has planned some fun activities to help celebrate the holiday in 2020.
In Bond Park: a giant American flag will be stenciled on the lawn and available for photo opportunities all weekend, and on Saturday, the We Support Estes Park organization will have antique cars and fire engines available for viewing from 12 to 4 p.m. On Saturday, patriotic music will be piped throughout the downtown area, and local musicians (some from the Village Band) will play familiar tunes from aboard a flatbed trailer traveling up and down Elkhorn Avenue. A schedule will be available by July 3 at www.estesparkeventscomplex.com.
A Photo Hunt Contest has also been announced with the chance to win a free stay at the Stanley Hotel.

First-time Photo Hunt contest for July 4th weekend. Collect photos of some of Estes Park’s landmarks and get the chance to win a free stay at The Stanley Hotel.
Participants must locate and photograph these twelve landmarks/items in the downtown area:
1. Giant stenciled lawn flag (will be in a prominent area downtown all weekend)
2. Mountain lion bronze sculpture
3. The large waterwheel
4. The giant Columbine sculpture
5. The large xylophone
6. The bronze sculpture of Enos Mills and his dog, Scotch
7. Gazebo west of Moraine Ave.
8. Mrs. Walsh’s Garden gate
9. Historic Park Theatre
10. Any painted utility box on the Riverwalk
11. The bronze sculpture of Samson the Elk
12. Any t-shirt noting Estes Park’s altitude (7,522 feet)
*WILDCARD: One of the several bronze pika sculptures scattered around town (any one of them may be used as a Wildcard replacement for any ONE of the above).
Photographs must be submitted by email no later than midnight Sunday, July 5th, 2020, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Photos may only be submitted via email. Late submissions will not be eligible. Qualifying entries will be eligible for a drawing to win one complimentary overnight stay for two at The Stanley Hotel (some limitations and date exclusions may apply).
On July 4th spend the afternoon enjoying hiking, bike riding, paddle boating, miniature golf or check out the Coolest Car Show (car show cancelled for 2020). More than 100 vehicles, from "Steam -to-Electric" will be displayed at the Estes Park Events Complex, located at the Fairgrounds at Stanley Park. Along with steam and electric cars, other street rods, stock cars, muscle cars, sports cars, vintage and classic cars will be on display.
At 7 p.m., the Estes Village Band (concert cancelled for 2020) tunes up for its annual patriotic concert featuring the works of John Philip Sousa and others. The concert is free to attend and will be held at the Performance Park Amphitheater, at the west end of downtown.
The Big Bang Concert (concert cancelled for 2020) is everything you are looking for in one location! A view of the fireworks along with music, food, local craft beer and wine at the Estes Park Fairgrounds in the Grandstands.
The Fireworks Show (fireworks cancelled for 2020) starts at 9:30pm over Lake Estes! You won't want to miss one of Colorado's most glorious fireworks displays! Find a grassy spot at Stanley Park, along the Lake Estes Trail or on your favorite mountainside to join in this annual tradition of national pride.
