2019 has been a great year for our Estes Park community and it is nearly over! What will be new for 2020? Well, first of all we will be adding new team members to our already strong team to help usher in the new year and to effectively serve our stakeholders and community to improve management of visitor demand. We will continue to improve our visitor services and dedicate a lot of effort to be more sustainable year-round.
We will continue to work hard to maintain a healthy, strong summer season while extending our shoulder seasons in May and October/November. At the same time, you should be able to see continued improvement in the winter season as we become more of a year-round destination. This will help us to sustain our businesses and provide year-round employment for our young adults, families and friends.
Another way we will improve in 2020 is through a new community and stakeholder sentiment survey to better understand areas of opportunity and adjustment relating to visitation. In addition, we will have a new comp market monthly survey that will help us better understand how we are doing compared to other similar markets.
We are also embarking on a wonderful new program in January for our businesses: working with Google Travel and the Colorado Tourism Office (CTO) to ensure that complete Google listing information is listed for each Estes Valley business. This will benefit all businesses and will cost nothing, as Visit Estes Park and the CTO are underwriting the entire cost of the program.
Visit Estes Park is also launching a stronger, improved group sales effort to increase business in the shoulder and off seasons, while also strengthening our business mid-week during the summer. We will be attending about eighteen different group related shows and spending more on marketing to target the group audience. An average group traveler spends about four dollars to every one dollar of leisure travel so this is an important step in diversifying our market.
