In addition to its natural beauty, key colorful aspects include the annual month-long Plein Air art event in August, where artists from around the world convene in Estes Park to capture the natural beauty of the surrounding area through their art. Rocky Mountain Nature Association also offers a variety of photography, watercolor and wildflower identification field seminars through which guests can capture their own perspective of colorful Estes Park.
Guests can also take a scenic drive through Glen Haven where they can experience the purples and blues of Twin Sisters, Longs Peak and the Continental Divide; or journey down the highest continuously paved road in the United States, Trail Ridge Road, rich with green summer foliage and golden aspens in the autumn. For a little more "local color," guests can head in to town, where they can taste multi-colored taffies at old-fashioned candy shops; sip on a locally made amber ale; or listen to live local bands.
