Museums & Learning

In addition to the scenic wonders surrounding Estes Park and Rocky Mountain National Park, the region presents some interesting historic and educational treasures as well. Take some time to visit museums and other academic stops. Browse exhibits interpreting early inventions and life as it once was in the region. Estes Park claims several sites listed on the National Historic Register as well as the world's largest key collection. Other fun artifacts include steam cars, vintage clothing and antique wagons. Hands-on learning opportunities engage youngsters, while other informative displays lead older travelers to exclaim, “I didn’t know that!”

Although Estes Park's human history gets much of the attention and interpretation, some museums and programs focus on the region's natural history. These classes and educational tours encourage guests to experience the landscape from the perspective of a hobby, such as birding, geology, photography, gardening, painting, or any number of other pursuits. Indoors or out, Estes Park abounds with opportunities for guests to learn more!
