Your New Favorite Detour

Highway 34 may currently be closed for construction, but that means more scenery to take in along the way to Estes Park. Explore the wilds of Rocky Mountain National Park and unwind in the serenity of the village. From mild to wild, your perfect getaway is only an extra 15-minutes (18-mile) of driving and still has the incredible adventures, peaceful moments and unique events you love. Try either of the detour routes to discover something new along the way!

Explore Highway 36

Estes Park Sign

Take this route through the charming town of Lyons and stop for a slice (of pie or pizza!) in Pinewood Springs. You'll be amazed at the changes since they rebuilt this road recently. Don't forget to grab the chance to stop at this iconic overlook for a pic or to take in the sights.

Take the Scenic Route

Views abound when you drive the Peak to Peak Scenic Byway (CO Hwy. 7) from Lyons. Along the way, you'll pass by the small community of Allenspark, beautiful historic landmarks like St. Malo Church and get breathtaking scenes of the iconic Longs Peak.
