Climb to a stunning cirque lake nestled at the foot of the iconic “diamond” of Longs Peak. Following a grueling hike through a dense subalpine forest, hikers are rewarded with miles of open tundra and sensational views of Longs Peak, Mt. Meeker, and the towns along the front range (weather permitting, of course!). Marmots, pika, and krummholz trees inhabit this region amidst spectacular geologic formations, such as tarn lakes and boulder fields. Autumn colors and seasonal changes in alpine plants and wildlife will be discussed during this breathtaking (literally!) hike.
