Colorado is home to 19 bat species, and 8 are found in the vicinity of Rocky Mountain National. The evolution, ecology, behavior, anatomy, threats and population status of Colorado’s bats will be discussed. Examples of survey equipment, video, and acoustic materials will be used to reinforce the lecture’s content. After dinner, we will travel to nearby foraging habitat to observe and listen to bat activity. We will drive as close as possible to the field sites, but participants should come prepared for short hikes.
