Estes Park Duck Race Festival

May 7 

The festivities begin at 9 a.m. on Saturday, May 7, with the Estes Park Running Club’s Duck Waddle 5K, a family fun run and race. Major sponsors of the Duck Race Festival will welcome duck fans to George Hix Riverside Plaza at 10 a.m., where there will be interactive activities and duck adoption sales until 1 p.m. The official duck drop at 1 p.m. at Nicky’s will start the race, when thousands of little yellow rubber ducks will enter Fall River and float about 2 miles to Riverside Plaza downtown. There, they will be pulled out of the river by volunteers and cheered by the finish line crowd. Each adopted duck is assigned a number, and hundreds of prizes will be awarded. Duck adoptions support local Estes Park charitable organizations. epduckrace.org

The YMCA of the Rockies is proud to host artist Join Margot Griffin of Inky Fingers Calligraphy for a beginner friendly workshop on brush lettering for Mother's Day weekend! Class is hosted on Saturday, May 7th at 10am - 11:30am and cost is $20. Participants will learn the basics of modern calligraphy in a low key, hands-on environment. Watercolor Class at the YMCA of the Rockies

The YMCA of the Rockies is proud to host artist Margot Griffin of Inky Fingers Calligraphy for a beginner friendly workshop on watercolor and watercolor calligraphy for Mother's Day weekend! This class is hosted on Saturday, May 7 from 1pm - 2:30pm and costs $20. Students in this workshop will learn the basic principles of pointed pen calligraphy and how they can be applied to using a paintbrush or brush pen. We will also learn some water color floral techniques, which can pair beautifully with hand lettering to make unique designs to add a touch of elegance and flair to your art. Feel the Rhythm of the Rockies at The Stanley Hotel Concert Hall on Saturday, May 14. This special performance benefits Estes Park Health Foundation. Performers for the 1st Annual Estes Park Jazz & Blues Festival include Chris Daniel & the Kings, Mollie O’Brien & Rich Moore and Wendy Woo. Chris Daniels has been playing and recording since 1970 and was inducted in the Colorado Music Hall of Fame in 2013. Mollie O’Brien is also a member of the Colorado Music Hall of Fame and won a Grammy in 1997.
