You can't hike the entire time you're in town, although no one here will blame you for trying. Instead, fill out your trip with local events that will give you a taste of the sights, sounds and flavors of this vibrant little mountain town. Check out what is going on in March.


Ranger-led snowshoe walks are offered at Rocky Mountain National Park from January through March.

Jan 18 - March

An annual favorite for many park visitors, Rocky Mountain National Park’s Ranger-led Snowshoe Walks will resume this January on both the east and west side of the park. Programs will be offered weekly, as conditions allow, through March 2022. These programs are approximately 2 hours long and are open to visitors age 8 and older and all experience levels. Beginning snowshoers are welcome. There is no additional fee beyond the regular park entrance fee to participate. 

On the east side of the park, beginning on Tuesday, January 18, ranger-led snowshoe walks will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 pm. Advanced reservations are required. To make a reservation, please call 970-586-1223. Reservations can be booked up to 7 days in advance. Snowshoe walks typically fill quickly, especially if the weather is forecast to be warm and sunny. Every Thursday in March, participating restaurants throughout Estes Park will be offering a $5 tasting plate from 4:30 - 7:30 p.m. with a different menu every week. Mountain Mardi Gras at the American Legion Circle 119

It's a party, it's a gumbo cook-off, it's a costume contest! American Legion Post 119, is hosting a Fat Tuesday-Mardi Gras Party
Craft beverages including Hurricanes will be available for purchase. They will be decked out with Mardi Gras beads, party favors, great music, and of course, King Cake! This event is open to the public and attendees are encouraged to wear costumes and/or masks for contest. Whiskey Warm Up returns in 2022 to celebrate our homegrown whiskey distilleries. Sip and sample the finest selections of Colorado whiskeys, listen to live music, peruse and purchase goods from area vendors, and delight in whiskey paired treats. There will be an opportunity at the conclusion of the event to purchase a bottle from your favorite distillery to enjoy at home. Space Adventure Spring Break at YMCA of the Rockies

1917 Book Club virtually hosted by the Estes Park Museum

On Wednesday, March 16, 2022 from 10:00 to 11:30 a.m., the 1917 Book Club virtually hosted by the Estes Park Museum will explore local title, Facing the Frontier: The Story of MacGregor Ranch by Betty Freudenburg. The book explores the history and settlement of MacGregor Ranch. This program is free and open to the public and will take place over Zoom. Book Club attendees will have access to their camera and microphones during the program to better participate in the discussion. It is strongly encouraged that participants read each book prior to the program to take part in the discussion. No registration is required.
