You can't hike the entire time you're in town, although no one here will blame you for trying. Instead, fill out your trip with local events that will give you a taste of the sights, sounds and flavors of this vibrant little mountain town. Check out what is going on in June:


First Friday Art Groove


First Friday of the month- June 3

Come out and do the Free tour from 5 - 8pm – see what’s happening in the Fine Art world here in Estes Park. Different locations will be serving food and refreshments, hosting artist meet & greets, demonstrations, show openings or hosting live music. Ride the FREE Estes Park Trolley to keep you warm between galleries. It promises to be a fun evening!! This event is created and planned by the Estes Arts District.


Guided Tours of the Historic Fall River Hydroplant


June 1 through September 30

The Historic Fall River Hydroplant will open its doors for the summer season on Wednesday, June 1, 2022. Located at 1754 Fish Hatchery Road in Estes Park, this plant was constructed in 1909 to produce electricity for the Stanley Hotel and surrounding areas. Later, F.O. Stanley sold the plant to the Public Service Company of Colorado. In 1945, the Town of Estes Park purchased and maintained the Hydroplant until it was severely damaged in 1982 by the Lawn Lake Flood. Operating as an interpretive site since 2002, the Historic Fall River Hydroplant will be open Wednesday – Saturday, 1:00 – 4:00 p.m., through September 30, 2022. Guided tours of the Hydroplant will be given at 1:00, 2:00, and 3:00 p.m., no reservations are required and admission is free. 970-586-6256;

Trail Ridge Quilters Fundraising Sale

Longs Peak 5 Miler

Athletes in Residence Ridge Running

June 18 

Experience Colorado's best mountain views along the Longs Peak 5Miler. The prominent fourteener, Longs Peak, is Northern Colorado’s highest mountain at 14, 259- Ft.. Longs Peak, and a chain of magnificent peaks along the Continental Divide, are located in Rocky Mountain National Park. From the Lake Estes trail, runners will experience views of Longs Peak, Mount Meeker, Thatchtop Mountain, Storm Peak, Mount Lady Washington, Otis Peak, Flat Top Mountain, The Mummy Range and Lumpy Ridge as well as hear sounds of the gentle waves along the lake shoreline.  The Longs Peak 5 Mile race starts at the Bobcat practice field, which is NE of the Estes Park High School building. Runners and walkers will join the Lake Estes Trail heading north and follow the trail counter-clockwise around the scenic Lake Estes Trail. The finish line is at the Bobcat Track and Field. Lost Penny at Performance Park

Lost Penny originally formed as a duo with Erin Dahlby on mandolin and Nadine on guitar. They first met at a local bluegrass jam in Estes Park, Colorado. Their songwriting is clever and memorable, and their arrangements of old standards is refreshing. Their music is harmony-focused americana, bluegrass and country, with some surprising covers that fall under none of these genres. They are prone to sing about dogs and Elvis. Join them for a free concert on Saturday June 18 at Performance Park.


Community Garage Sale and Bake Sale at St Bartholomew's Episcopal church

Join the annual garage sale and bake sale fundraiser at the parking lot of St Bartholomew's Episcopal Church, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  All profits from the fundraiser will go to our outreach programs. Some of the local non-profit organizations that received donations from this fundraiser last year included The Boys and Girls Club of Estes Park, Crossroads, Salud, EVICS, and The Learning Place. Even a bear joined us last year. Yoga on the patio at Avant Garde Aleworks

Friends of Folk Music Festival

Friends of Folk Festival is organized by the Estes Arts District and takes place in Performance Park. This year admission is free and all proceeds will go to fund scholarships for local creatives and supports future Friends of Folk Festivals. Be sure to bring chairs or blankets to sit and watch the entertainment. Daddy Long Legs the Musical 

June 17, 18, 24 & 25 

Daddy Long Legs is a heartwarming Cinderella story about a witty and winsome young woman and her mysterious benefactor, based on the treasured novel that inspired the classic 1955 film. The FILManthropy Summer movie festival will be a collaborative, community fundraising event benefiting the Estes Park Nonprofit Resource Center (EPNRC) and our local nonprofit sector. The EPNRC exists to connect, support, and inspire the vibrant nonprofit sector of the Estes Valley community. FILManthropy will take place over 8 Mondays throughout the summer season at Performance Park in Estes Park, Colorado.

Check out the Estes Park Farmers Market every Thursday from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. On Farmers Market days the Visitor Center parking lot will be closed to all vehicles except transit buses, those woth valid ADA credentials and those looking to quickly drop off or pick up market products. Farmer's Market patrons must park int he Parking Structure at 691 N St Vrain/ US 36.

Fused Glass Necklace Class at Inspired Artisan Market & Studio

Weekly on Thursdays 

In this class you will learn the the basics of creating amazing fused glass pieces while also make a beautiful necklace all your own! Experience cutting glass into different shapes, layering different types of glass, and firing your unique piece. You will also get to design and string a custom beaded necklace using our a huge variety of beads that your finished fused glass pendant will prominently display on. 

Due to the firing process, you will not be able to take your finished pieces home right away. Classes that are available for booking at 11:00 can be pick up their finished necklaces at the end of the day (7:00 in the summer season) and classes that are available for booking at later times will need to be picked up the next day. If it will not work for you to pick up your pieces the next day, we can ship your finished piece to you for a small fee ($5.00). All materials and tools required for the class are provided. Felted hummingbirds Class at Inspired Artisan Market & Studio

Come have some fun with felting! This class is a fun and colorful introduction to the very relaxing and (stress leaving) art of Needle Felting! Learn how to sculpt simple shapes from core wool, and then add bright embellishing colors to bring these sweet little creatures to life. Every participant will leave with at least one finished piece they are proud of and is ready to be hung in their home (if there is time we can create a second hummingbird). Create a beautiful reminder of spring that you can have year round! This is an introductory class into the popular new art medium, Alcohol Inks. You will learn how to use Alcohol Inks to create beautiful landscapes and experiment with different techniques to create a one-of-a-kind creation!  Alcohol Inks are very interesting to work with and, in certain respects, in a league of their own. They are easier to manipulate than watercolor and they produce vibrantly colored finished pieces that are absolutely striking. All materials and tools are provided and we offer 16 vibrant colors for our participants to play and experiment with.
