Join photographer Dawn Wilson in learning techniques and how to use your phone to capture stunning images of Rocky Mountain National Park!

There are 57,000 photos taken every minute in the world today, and photo-sharing website Flickr lists the iPhone as the #1 camera that was used to capture the images shared on its site. But do you really know the capabilities of that phone in your pocket?

In this course, participants will discuss the various shooting methods on the iPhone, how to use each mode, what accessories are helpful for various techniques with a camera phone, and how to edit images right on the phone.

Our evening virtual program will cover all of the techniques and give participants a solid foundation. The next morning, the group will head to the field for an early morning shoot in Rocky Mountain National Park. We will wrap up the course with a final discussion about editing photos from the field shoot and answer any remaining questions. You'll leave feeling confident in your skills and abilty to capture more interesting and engaging images using just your phone.

Note: This course is based on the iPhone OS but many of the techniques transfer well to the Android platform.

Who: Participants ages 16 and up. This is a Level II course. Expect short-distance walks throughout the day, primarily on level terrain.

When: Monday, July 22, from 6:00pm - 9:00pm AND Tuesday, July 23, from 7:00am - 12:00pm

Where: Monday evening: Zoom, Tuesday morning: Meet at the Estes Park Visitor Center, 500 Big Thompson Ave, Estes Park, and travel together in Conservancy vehicles to various sites in Rocky Mountain National Park.

What to bring:

About your instructor: A full-time photographer and writer, Dawn Wilson specializes in photographing and telling the stories about wildlife of high latitudes and high altitudes of the Rocky Mountains and Alaska. Animals at these locations love the cold as much as Dawn does, and the views bring peace to an often hectic life as a nature photographer. Dawn travels extensively visiting remote locations, looking for wildlife to tell their story, raising awareness about wildlife habitat conservation, and writing about many of these destinations in magazine articles.
